We are hosting Guy Butcher for a second time in our Falmouth store

After a succesful set of workshops back in October 2023 we are thrilled to get Guy back in store

He will be at 11 Webber Street on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th April. You will have the chance to make your desired craft with Guy’s support and guidance.

Everything from Hand Planes to Paipos will be on offer. Just make your choice and Guy will arrive with a pre made blank, laminated and ready to shape.

The added bonus will be the chance to laminate and vacuum bag a second blank which you can then take home at the end of the day to make a second board.

Construction of the blanks - Guy’s breakdown

“The basic construction is a 5mm core of Western Red Cedar (pre- shaped/tapered) sandwiched between two layers of 1.5mm Birch plywood. It's a really high quality ply that's used in traditional aircraft building.

With the veneered blanks I remove one of the three laminates from one of the plywood sheets and replace it with the veneer. Which I cut myself.

Some of the bottom profiles are formed by adding cork to the core and shaping before it's vacuum laminated”
